Folks -- This is a thoroughly impressive compilation of writing advice from a lot of talented, multi-published, award-winning and nominee-ed people. I'm only sorry I didn't get my act together in time to include an article on writing selling synopses. This one is recommended! Remember, if you don't have an e-book reader, we publish in .pdf, which the free Adobe Reader you can read on your computer, and in several cell phone readers.

Book View Café has launched their latest e-book: BREWING FINE FICTION, Advice for Writers From the Authors at Book View Café (ISBN 978-0-9828440-3-8). BVC’s members include international bestselling authors and winners of the National Book Award, the Hugo Award, the Nebula Award, and many others. Most have sold multiple novels to major publishers. Many have taught writing at workshops around the world. The knowledge of these professional authors is gathered into one volume, edited by Maya Kaathryn Bohnhoff and Pati Nagle, that will help both new and experienced writers cope with the creative challenges and the nuts-and-bolts business issues of a career in writing fiction.

I suggest we say NO to any corporation donating to ANY candidate in this fashion. Since I was about to buy two bookcases at Target, this hurts. Here's the message and the petition (which happens to be from MoveOn.org, but I'd sign it from a right-leaning group, too.) This was a constitutional ruling, but not a good precedent, and I hope congress plugs this hole soonest.

Subject: Tell Target to stop trying to buy elections

Hi,

The Minneapolis-based retailer Target just gave over $150,000 to buy ads supporting state Rep. Tom Emmer, a far-right Republican candidate for governor. This makes Target one of the very first companies to take advantage of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision allowing unlimited corporate cash in elections.

Target must think customers won't care. They're wrong: We do care, and we need to let them know that we want Target -- and all corporations -- out of our elections. Can you join me in sending a message to Target's CEO at the link below?

Thanks!
