Boy, it took a lot to make it through the holidays. I needed time to unwind after the great mailing of holiday gifts to the family, and the nuts, nuts, nuts! (Half still wrapped and in place for Odd Friday -- hope everyone wanders through.) I read a bunch of short fiction and did 11 SFWA Nebula nominations. Then there was the "When life gives you too many ripe pears, you make sorbet" and "Yes, there is more powdered sugar on the floor than in the bowl, please go away". They can wait a day or two. In the meantime:

A scene for the BLIND TIGER crew, but think it comes later-later -- like another novel.
I choose to take this as my subconscious being optimistic about sequels.
Oh -- and I chose this LJ design a year ago, almost exactly. I scanned a few of the new designs, and nothing seemed right. So for the time being, we go with old design, new name. Because there's been movement. Progress? I hope so.
Happy Western New Year!

More out of order stuff

Work continues...
Nov. 28th, 2007 02:46 amThe caulking is really trashing my hands, so I took a day off and wrote. Have no idea if the fragment was for this book or another with the same characters, but I enjoyed writing it! Trying to write before simple Live Journal postings, so no Samhain or Thanksgiving reports yet. Too spacey today -- not as much work as I should have gotten done. Still, six+ pages good!

Nothing like anger to get work done...
Nov. 8th, 2007 02:56 amWell, that blasted lab test I have now taken TWICE, once in SF and once in Austin, was screwed up AGAIN by the lab, and I'll need to do it AGAIN -- once the paperwork arrives. And it will take three weeks from when I take it to get the results.
Can you say "not until after Thanksgiving?"
$#@^!

Well, the Zokutou meter is offline --
Nov. 6th, 2007 01:18 pmWe can use it, and change the count code, but I'm not gonna calculate percentage -- that's always a pain on good days. So here's another site having fun with meters. You can even change the little guy's expressions.

Rambling sort of day --
Oct. 21st, 2007 02:18 amWe slept really late, which we probably needed, and I ordered stickers for my keyboard (made of Lexan -- I'll let you know how well they work. For the money, they'd better work. Not bad, but postage & handling double the rate.) Hit Half Price and found 1491 and a book on north American tribal myths. Need to write a few for myself. Also a lovely copy of Datlow/Windling's Coyote anthology -- one of the few I wish I'd heard about. I'll just have to write it for this mystery/fantasy.
Watched the 3rd episode of Torchwood, taped weeks ago, but if we're awake and not working on the PCs, W tends to be watching taped anime. Not bad, and Jack is always fun to watch.
And a bit more --
No meteorites spotted yet. If I wake around 5, I'll go look again. Mostly clear, but I did see a star obscured by a momentary something. Pleiades show only 6 tonight.
