You can even sing about undead happy trees.
For the curious -- buds form in the fall on many plants, and continue to develop over the winter. I imagine this variety (maybe pussy willows?) has a tiny little manufacturing plant at each bud point, waiting to respond to temperature and moisture levels. Which is a wonderful freak-out for those who thought the points were old bud sites, not new ones....
