Lamenting Witches?

An article in The New Yorker winds its way through the witch in the bible, literature, and society, ending up lamenting that we have no righteous witches to come forth and deal with the old men planting flags on the reproductive organs of women.

The first three comments point out that she's missed where witches are alive and well (like Discworld) and she doesn't seem to have any comprehension of real witches -- or how women are still threatened and killed for being witches.

I'm wondering where she was going with this article....
