Winding down

Late here, especially since we're going to the Texas Renaissance Fair tomorrow. I have been re-building a synopsis from a skeleton I had, and finding it interesting going. It's maybe harder than it has to be, because I am using a prior synopsis as a frame, as opposed to the usual holistic writing style--but I keep finding large swaths of it useful. I'm just tweaking like mad to concentrate the focus.

Have been meaning to post the names of some recent books I've enjoyed, fiction and non-fiction, but too many other things have intruded. I hope my next one will be Staying Dead by [livejournal.com profile] suricattus--it looks satisfying intriguing. Only one slight problem--I see something on the back that I've used in a book I'm working on.

I hope the "mage who has lost his mind" is not a still-living famous mage or reincarnation of someone, because I'd hate to give up my drug-damaged slacker wizard. So, Suri, I really have started him! I can send you the synopsis!

He's not the protagonist!

You're safe. You'll see. Hope you enjoy....

Suspect I will--I'm one of the hidden masses who like contemporary fantasy! %^)

I adored Staying Dead. Just wish the next one was coming out sooner!

It was wonderful, wasn't it? There's an anthology this fall with a story about W & S! Check Suri's recent comments or web site.

I can just see that meerkat sparkle in your eyes. %^)

Seriously, I will put up my latest read list soon--I will be marking it as **well** worth the trade paper price. Just to get that pesky detail out of the way....

Hrm. For some reason my responses, while readable when you look for 'em, aren't showing up in the responses display. But only in your journal. Odd...

I think I have things set for screened--I don't have any blocks to becoming a friend, so I want to screen things before I come back to find a tirade from some idiot. Also--until it appears, you should assume I haven't read it.

Wasn't I BORN to be an SF/Fantasy writer? Who thinks of things like that?

People with friends who have been stalked, for starters...

Off to TRF, will answer other things later! %^)

We are heading to TRF next weekend :)

wish we had hit it the sameweekend...let me know what to see and I hope you were dry today...mud RF is not always as much fun..of course when you have a hot bath to come home to it isn't as bad as living inthe swap....

It poured before we got there, so we had to watch out for mud. I always find RF overwhelming, and am easily led where others want to go. We didn't make a single demo, which I think W would have enjoyed. I would have enjoyed it, too--but got to chat with friends (one who did not drink enough water and became ill--remain hydrated!) eat meat on a stick (other did their Scotch eggs) and get my cards read, a TF tradition--either cards or palms. Very humid and hot, so I wasn't in the mood to try on clothing--otherwise, Boss Wench might have tempted me. Dra has some painted shirts and skirts and the far location--but they're well over $200 a piece.

Only one of us in costume, but he looked great!

I put together a local list--you're on it now, I sent out something about cheaper tickets this weekend still available, but didn't think to send it to you, sorry--

Oh, Dra. Dra is evil. I have three shirts, bought over the years as I had the cash, and I treat them better than anything else I own...

(my oldest is over ten years old and only now starting to fray -- they're worth the money!)

Oh, yes, Dra is very evil. And it was a wretch not to try on that gorgeous silk shirt. But in the back of my fuzzy mind, I knew there was something I needed that $200 for...and if my bod continues to cooperate, I will start taking a month-long test Wednesday that costs $200. My last gasp with this doctor to find out what is causing the accelerated arthritis, since the LBb treatment isn't slowing the advance.

No insurance can be a %$#@!.

I figure if I'm meant to own a Dra, the money and the shirt will coincide! %^)

Finished "Staying Dead". Fun stuff, great characters--you done very, very good!

Hey, Sweetie!
By the time you read this, you will have already been to the Faire. I hope you had a blast. What did you wear?

Re screening: I'm new @ LJ, but I think only you can make people your friends. They can only make you their friend.

Which replies do you want screened by default? By non-friends.

I may change it to screening all, if I decide to start writing about more sensitive things.

[identity profile] alfreda89.livejournal.com 2004-10-03 10:06 am (UTC)(link)
I think mine is screening all--that way, if I type something sensitive, people can respond to it between the two of us.

I'm careful responding, because I don't know what their settings are--

Faire colorful, energetic, rained hard before we got there, very humid and fairly hot--only B dressed up, but he was drool-able. N bought a new dress, cotton velvet! ARGHH! But very lovely. Got lots of clove soap from Devonshire Incense and Apothecary--my favorite.

W had two scotch eggs.... %^)
