Live Journal in trouble?

I hear that they've cut their staff by 50%. And I just renewed, sigh....

I hear the skinny is, save to LJArchive. But haven't found a post on it yet. So, if you know how to archive everything -- let me know!

This means eventually I will be posting more on www.blog.bookviewcafe.com, until I decide how to handle all this. To fans, I will find a place for a blog (now is not the best time for it, of course) and will post that site in here, if I still can, and at my brochure site, www.ke-kimbriel.com.

I want to be able to post cover pics, or artwork, as I am returning to my roots -- bought a mess of acrylics on sale. We'll see if I have what it takes to sell artwork. Once, I did -- but I wanted to write. Now, I want to do both, and something has to pay the bills.

'Til soon --

[livejournal.com profile] elarasophia has very kindly sent me the link over on mine:

http://sourceforge.net/projects/ljarchive/

Haven't tried it yet.

I wouldn't worry about LJ going anywhere. They just shifted offices really and (while it sucks for those laid off) I doubt we'll notice any interruption of service.

At the same time, it's not a bad idea to back-up your LJ periodically if you don't want to lose it. There's no guarantee that the service will exist tomorrow with or without layoffs.

Agree. Unlikely that we'll notice any disruption of service. But just fyi, I've been "backing up" 20 posts at a time to word using cut and paste. Originally I worked in word and cut and paste to lj, but then began to trust lj. So my dups are both ways for me. I haven't tried the archive function (but probably will discover they want $$ to use it.)

DreamHost space is like $100 a year and nearly infinite; I sublet out a chunk of mine to my son, for example, and will never notice the space/user.

If you sign up with my coupon code (SIMDREAM) that's pretty much first year free (IIRC)... of course, then you have to run a Wiki or something, but that's pretty easy too, especially since MediaWiki and some other useful stuff is on one-button install there.
