Interesting film. It's ironic that the beginning credits run over a hazy shot of greyhounds racing -- my grey, Jack -- an ex-racer -- almost died eighteen months ago from Lyme disease. The disease was extremely hard to identify (it took specialists at vet schools in three states to finally pin it down) and even harder to control. Then we discovered that it doesn't really ever go away but lies dormant in the bloodstream. Jack had three serious relapses which landed him back in the vet hospital with the specialists. Now he's on doxycycline and prednisone for the rest of his life to precent the disease re-emerging (we hope). Don't even think of asking how much his hospitalizations and treatments coast!
I know what it costs. I'm still taking a powerful cocktail of antibiotics to hammer it into remission. Thank the heavens I get some help on meds -- although I just sent in 11 months of antibiotics. We'll see how they respond.

Isn't the pred a steroid? Steroids are bad for humans with the condition -- they'll strip your adrenals, if I recall correctly.
