Thought for the day --

"I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, and to the republic which it established, one nation from many peoples, promising liberty and justice for all."

I got this from Wes Struebing, who is on the b5jms list. I believe this is his version.

I like it. This is what is important, people. Not the flag. Not so many other trappings of our country and civilization. This is what the president and our armed forces swear to protect.

It is what makes us different.

I also would accept the preamble to the Constitution as a flag pledge substitute. This is more concise.

I need a constitution icon. In the meantime, the current defender of the constitution. Not a perfect defender, but in my opinion, better than the last one.

No -- I am vary aware of human failing. I have been told that I am extremely tolerant (I consider myself tolerant of human eccentricities and extremes -- I have zero tolerance for murder, blatant lying, abuse, etc. .) Our country was founded on great hopes and prayer, as most new ventures are taken on. It's taken us over 200 years to reach the point we have, and we've spilled a lot of blood and tears to get there, because not everyone has the same idea of what our nation should be.

I still think that for people who want to chart their own destiny, we are still the best place in the world to live. It's still safer to speak out here than anywhere else (even if the Patriot Act and TSA are making things tighter than usual.) But I do think that a lot of people are out there screaming that they're fighting for God, mom, and apple pie, and wrapping themselves in flags, but they aren't really reading the words of the Constitution or Declaration -- and sometimes they allow themselves to be stampeded by fear of the unknown into actions that, if considered closely, are actually the opposite of their best interest. And the best interests of our diverse nation.

The LBb is medical. I have new challenges daily, the biggest being flipping like a light switch between an IQ of 160 and 100. I am inventing coping mechanisms for that, while I try to go into remission. So sometimes I miss entire subtext that is usually the first thing I notice. My friends are gracious and repeat themselves later.

Hang in there!!!!!!

I've long been known as an egghead type.
What I finally realized is that a good heart is more valuable, and valued more by others.
You are doing well, in that department, for sure.
