A little-discussed problem of baking and eating wonderful cookies during the holiday season...

Returning to commercially-produced cookies, no matter how good they tasted before the holidays, is a letdown. They are not as good as homemade.

A sad statement of fact.

Any other drawbacks of food after the holidays? (Or benefits, for that matter?)

I'm so grateful for food to get back on schedule! I guess I just don't like holiday food as much anymore. :/ Ok...maybe fresh made eggnog... :D

Yeah, and I didn't get any real eggnog this year -- only some of overdone grocery store eggnog. Foo. Real eggnog...now you're talking.

Do eggs have gluten or you can't have alcohol?

I do alcohol in tiny doses right now -- just white bread or potatoes or pasta could make me high, and then I'd fall asleep. I'm still careful. My friend who makes great scratch eggnog was ill for her own tree decorating party, so she didn't make any this year. I was out of town Christmas. I don't think she's going to bother at this late date. It's a recipe for something like 24 people, and even at 1/4 strength alcohol was too much for most of her guests! Reducing it for three (her husband also likes it) might be very hard.
