So I have been loading WorkinTexas.com for over a week with my varied experience. I try the jobs match.

No jobs.

First tea, then search and tweak.

I've been doing it a little at a time over the past two weeks. The major problems for private sector are the words "recent technical experience," XML and its kin, and input software I don't know, like Framemaker. Lost the WIA grant money (again.) Doesn't matter if money is savings or a gift, it's money, and they can't help you.

Ed encouraged me to apply for anything I have 70% of the requirements, and write a hell of an intro letter. He believes most people get the job through the interview, which is probably true.

I am tweaking the resume today a la TWC recs. If I can get LibreOffice to allow me to move sections around, I can try creating a resume emphasizing the writing. But with the dates on my tech experience, I suspect private sector writing is currently hopeless. Need to figure out what the best current XML book is...and keep at the WORD tutorial. Do you think I should concentrate on 2007 or 2010?

Writing for the nonprofit websites applet group at LaunchPad may give me nonprofit cred other than Richard, and also more recent tech experience.
