FileZilla, anyone?

So --

The ancient frame text site I maintain for a nonprofit needs emergency changes. My tower is in limbo and the guy who has it won't return email or calls. Last time that happened his employer sent him overseas for three weeks, so no blame there. But, I either have to buy an external floppy drive and see if I can get WIN 8 to run Dreamweaver 3, or I need to access the control panel.

The IP COMPLETELY changed the control panel access URL without telling me. Not impressed, and the redesign will be hosted elsewhere! Also -- they use Parallel as their control panel system, and it delivers an error message when I try to access the body of the frame.

I am eying FileZilla. Looks like there is a chance that it will work with Windows 8. No clue if it will work with frames. Has anyone used it? Likes it? Hates it?

I know you enjoy the weird things I get tossed into... ;^)

I use it to upload files to the server for an SCA site I maintain. It's a reasonably nice basic FTP utility. If you can get an FTP connection to the site you're trying to update, you should be able to drag the source files down onto your desktop using it, edit them with whatever you have handy, and then drag them back onto the server.

I'm still running XP, so I have no guesses about Windows 8, which I'm avoiding like the plague it is. But if the filezilla page says it will work with 8, it's probably safe to believe it. It's free, so you at worst you'll waste half an hour downloading and installing it.

I was actually hoping to edit one page up top right now, but won't know until I try. Sounds like there's a chance if I buy the external drive and try it, that might work...if Dreamweaver 3 doesn't have a heart attack over WIN 8.

I so miss my XP. But I hung on so long WIN 8 has been very unpleasant.

EDIT: Just mentioning WIN 8 made me forget to thank you for reporting in! I appreciate it.
