You know how the entire point of this new update is touching things--screens, phones, apps?

When I use the touchpad on my laptop, I have all sorts of software that came pre-installed on this computer that leaps to help me do myriad things--even when I was JUST TRYING TO SCROLL ACROSS THE SCREEN.

Bill Gates has been quoted as saying that CTRL-ALT-DEL was supposed to have been an internal command for developers only. If I could not get to the Task Manager and close down crap I never asked to open, I would have sold stock last year to dump this otherwise perfectly good new Toshiba and bought a Mac.

So. All hail CTRL-ALT-DEL!

My system did an auto-update when I wasn't looking, and I have lost bookmarks and had them re-arranged.

Turns out that Microsoft don' know nuthin about being able to downgrade your operating system.

Toshiba does -- but if you machine turns out to have Windows 8 standard on it, and not Windows 8 Pro, you're not allowed to downgrade your machine. You must pay for the upgrade first, or you must pay for Windows 7. Why was this "guarantee" part of the software agreement I had to click through to originally boot the machine? Why do I not have the WIN 8 Pro I thought I bought?

Mysteries of the universe.

There are 45 drivers listed for the S955 laptop. Nowhere do I see that they will work with WIN 7 on this machine.

I'm guessing that I continue to be #$%^#@ over on this purchase.

Oh -- the nice young woman at Costco Concierge says that the keys wearing off is a manufacturer's defect, and I can send my machine back into have the keyboard replaced.

Yeah -- like I'm going to risk having a computer that works, however poorly, re-enter the factory and have the keys pried off because of the key alphanumerics wearing off in four months? And will we do this again in another four months?

I got news for them -- I'm getting glow in the dark keyboard stickers. WIN!

The "Show More" clicks at Amazon.com? Don't respond to a PC WIN 8 system.

So --

The ancient frame text site I maintain for a nonprofit needs emergency changes. My tower is in limbo and the guy who has it won't return email or calls. Last time that happened his employer sent him overseas for three weeks, so no blame there. But, I either have to buy an external floppy drive and see if I can get WIN 8 to run Dreamweaver 3, or I need to access the control panel.

The IP COMPLETELY changed the control panel access URL without telling me. Not impressed, and the redesign will be hosted elsewhere! Also -- they use Parallel as their control panel system, and it delivers an error message when I try to access the body of the frame.

I am eying FileZilla. Looks like there is a chance that it will work with Windows 8. No clue if it will work with frames. Has anyone used it? Likes it? Hates it?

I know you enjoy the weird things I get tossed into... ;^)

I don't even have to tell you, do I?

Looks like there is no driver for a CanoScan N656U for Windows 8 -- even though Windows 8 is in the OS list.

Since I need to scan in my transcript, this is $#$$^ annoying.
