Medical oddities....

Here's a medical study I saved, and never got around to posting. I was going to delete it, but it dovetails into family, and intrigues me, so...

I put my uncle into NIGHT CALLS. He's Uncle Karl. Like Karl, my uncle didn't have much use for other people's children--but he seemed to like me as an adult, and I always enjoyed him. He's missed.

A friend sent this along--This site has a simple narrative for those who do not find the concept of a father deity offensive--and it has some of the most beautiful nature photography I've ever seen. There is one picture of crashing waves that is unlike anything I have ever witnessed, on film or in person--take a look.

One of the big embarrassments about living in Texas is all the talk about "Family Values" without any investment by the state in the things that can make family values strong. This article came out last fall, and if you missed it, you might find it interesting:

Yes--I am a broken record on this subject, although not in people's faces. But I'm deathly allergic to tobacco, it's the reason I may never travel to Europe--I couldn't breathe for the entire trip. I resent that.

The good news? Apparently society doesn't pay for smokers' decisions as much as originally believed. The bad news--we lose a lot of good people too soon.
