The question of fertility and SF....
A friend noted recently that she remembers me using low fertility with elves in a role-playing game, long ago, so the Nuala books didn't surprise her. Something new that I'm thinking my way through also includes that trope -- and here's still another article that may help explain why fertility taps at the back of my skull.
Note in this article that they mention that most Americans have measurable amounts of BPA in their urine. Then they say that studies with animals show problems with reproduction and with cancer linked to this stuff. And they go on to say enough about the men in the study and American amounts of this chemical to make you think -- wait a minute. . . .
