alfreda89: (Cat Magic)
The piece of bark or a cricket in the corner of the staircase step is gone -- I am now convinced that it was the scorpion, and that it came in from my friend's garage via the milk crates I'm using as a temporary bookcase. She's in Australia right now, so I can't give her a hard time about it! But this has taught me a good lesson --

I live in Texas. One does NOT assume that something on the floor is "X" and reach for it! One looks closely, with a flashlight if necessary, before reaching. That scorpion's sting is like a nail through your hand, according to the pros. Driving to the hospital would not have been fun!

On a lighter side -- baby sloths and their wranglers! Cuteness overload! You have been warned! Through Andrew Sullivan's site -- a conservative who is always interesting.
