alfreda89: (Books and lovers)
Hey!

It's time to let everyone in the world know about the new website I'm involved with. This site, Book View Cafe, offers up fiction for free from over 20 published writers, including people you've heard of like Ursula K. LeGuin, Vonda N. McIntyre, and our own [livejournal.com profile] suricattus. There will be novels, short fiction, poetry, plays -- things that have been out of print, things too quirky for NYC publishing, new things we've chosen to take directly to our readers. Genres will run the gauntlet from fantasy, horror and science fiction to mystery and romance -- and a lot of these works will be cross-genre.

Many stories will be free, or free for various periods, or free in serialization. Many things you will be able buy up front (for example, a complete novel being serialized free weekly.) We are even arranging subscriptions to authors on the site, where sneak previews or extra info will reward the supportive reader. Tip jars, too; if you really enjoyed the free stuff, drop in a buck to keep us posting.

The site promises new material every day, so it’s an easy way to get a taste of authors you’ve never before read. Our project manager, Sarah Zettel, puts it this way: “Book View Cafe will make sure the customer gets the stories they want, when they want, how they want, wherever they want. We are the library in your back pocket.”

There's also a group blog, which has RSS, for those of you organized about your blog reading.

Right now, I have up only a new author bio (commenting on why I write) and a photo. My first post to the blog goes up Thursday, as well as Part One of "Feather of the Phoenix", my homage to the 1001 Arabian Nights. It's possible my OOP SF novels will end up here. Keep watching!

Check it out: www.bookviewcafe.com

But I warn you -- I read a chapter one writer posted (FOOL'S RUN) because I will interview Sarah Zettel for a pod cast. THEN I read Chapter Two because I wanted to know what happened next! Then I slapped my hand and got back to work, but the minute there's a hole in my schedule, you'll know where to find me....

P.S. -- YES! Permission to cross-post!
