So, Locus is having a poll in November for the best SF & Fantasy of the last two centuries -- meaning the current (21st) and last (20th) centuries. If you would like to amuse yourself by voting, you can check it out here. You do not have to be a subscriber, but you do have to fill out their form, as a way of spam filtering.

I have a slight thing about Locus polls. I've never admitted this before, but I made the Best of Year list for Night Calls -- and it wasn't on the list. You had to have your book mentioned by name by two separate columnists to make the list. I was saddened to not make the list, but I was reading my way through the columnists' end of year columns...and found that I was mentioned by at least two separate columnists. I pointed this out to Charles Brown, and his response was to shrug.

Charles was an okay guy, but he failed me at this point. Even a small note in the corrections column would have been nice.

I decided that Locus no longer needed my $99 a year for a First Class subscription.

So have fun, and if you want to amuse yourself by adding any of my books to the poll? They were all first published in the 20th century.

Thanks, John Scalzi, for mentioning the poll!

Update: A box for the survey! Please send your results to janine.ray AT gmail.com (just turn that into a real address.)

Austinites -- your opinion on a Gluten Free restaurant or Gluten-Free friendly restaurant! Mention what part of town you live in, and put your results in your reply for LJ. I will forward to the person doing the survey, since they haven't set up a separate box for this. The people doing this have run a successful restaurant in another town, and one just had gastric bypass, so he's very open to getting the best meals with smaller portions and removing foods that are a problem. Several of us encouraged him to consider making the restaurant GF, or very GF friendly.

Why yes, some of my answers were brief, and some I wrote them a novel. Of course!
