I've just gone to the trouble of rooting out a readable version of the mine drawing from Hidden Fires. I did this drawing, way back when -- mountains, locations of things, etc. and even signed it with Ardal's name at the bottom. One problem -- I don't remember if this is my type on it, or if Warner took my drawing, and used presstype or some such thing on it over the areas where I put in the words.

In some cases they copy edited my maps -- but not in this case. They used Initial Caps for things, etc. I guess I'm going to have to dig for a few more days in hopes of finding the original drawing. I really don't want to have to yank the e-book off the market, should someone at "Warner go, hey, we did that version!"

*Grumble*

A friend noted recently that she remembers me using low fertility with elves in a role-playing game, long ago, so the Nuala books didn't surprise her. Something new that I'm thinking my way through also includes that trope -- and here's still another article that may help explain why fertility taps at the back of my skull.

Note in this article that they mention that most Americans have measurable amounts of BPA in their urine. Then they say that studies with animals show problems with reproduction and with cancer linked to this stuff. And they go on to say enough about the men in the study and American amounts of this chemical to make you think -- wait a minute. . . .

Do I think we're poisoning ourselves, every day in many ways? Yes, I do. . . .

I am a channel for the creative power of the universe. (My Monday Intention from some of those power of positive thinking folks....)

Let's see, now...dreams.... (Just put the ADD patch on -- hurray! If I could only always remember it.) Sleep was bad Thursday and Friday night -- like waking every 30 minutes. Yes, you DO get sorta psychotic sleeping like that. Saturday a little better, but not a lot. So I finally surrender, when a stack of stuff that usually helps is not helping, and email my doctor. Who says increase the dose of XX. So I do.

Intensely vivid dreams, large chunks of....are you ready for this? (Icon is explained!) A sequel to HIDDEN FIRES, one of the NUALA books.

No, S, you may not have a sequel to HIDDEN FIRES unless enough E-books sell to justify a sequel. I just write too slowly, most of the time.

It was very strange to suddenly have this huge story just POURING out at me. All this stuff my backbrain has apparently been writing for years, and sitting on, waiting for me to heal so it could tell the forebrain about things.

Now -- my cable is hosed again, so time to call Time Warner.

As y'all know, the first SF book, FIRES OF NUALA, is going up at Book View Cafe next month. Might even be a Kindle version soon, if I can figure out the transfer without too much stress. As part of this, I plan to put up a Nuala Facebook page. This will be the place to go for all things Nuala, the place to send people to find out what it's about, etc. So -- if you have a favorite way to lure people to the Nuala books, that's where you will want to enter it! You have a brief review you use, an elevator speech? Facebook -- AND Amazon.com and other such places. Remember that Amazon was a young beast when those books came out. Fans came back later and wrote a couple of comments when they found long-sought copies, but a few good reviews somewhere will help. One hopes that people who liked the books will be the ones who bother to review them!

Writers, a special request -- if you liked the books, could you blurb them? Short and sweet is great. If you'd like to see it again, I can send you PC/MS Word now, or .pdf or epub files soon. If you have never read it and would like an ARC, please ask, I'd be delighted to send you the file.

Now -- patient Allie fans. Allie has been sitting with an editor for two years. My agent feels it's not a rejection, so we leave it alone. When I mentioned I would have a chance to see the editor soon, he said re-pitch.

I could use some help with this re-pitching. This editor liked the books when they came out -- the job is to make re-launching them seem like a good idea. I am almost to the end of my rope -- Allie may never move past page 105 of book 3 if I don't get some encouragement. So -- if you've thought about doing a review at Amazon, but never got over there? Tomorrow would be a great day to wander through. If that editor hops on the internet HERE, she will see reviews for those books (Amazon looks different in different parts of the country, as many of you know.) The more good reviews, the better. NIGHT CALLS and KINDRED RITES -- why doe Allie stick with you? Doesn't have to be involved -- say why you love them and want others to read them.

If this falls through, I will either abandon the book except when nothing else is cooperating, or I will put up a PayPal link and do something like Miller & Lee did for FLEDGLING.

A common definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. So -- this time, we try different.

Start planning your Facebook/Amazon Nuala reviews! Writers, it's blurb time -- all help appreciated, and I'd be happy to send files. (Heck, I can find a couple of hard copies for die hard paper lovers....) And reviews for the Allie books and chapbook -- anyone who can help out, it will be greatly appreciated. You may be the straw that breaks down NYC's resistance.
