I was going to title this "A new ghetto on Wikipedia," but a ghetto by definition is a place where minority groups are segregated, generally within a city. And women are the majority in America, although you would not know it by salary...or by the fact that someone at Wikipedia is systematically stripping all the female writers from the American novelists category and creating an American Women Novelists category.

No, there isn't an American Men Novelists category.

Since I don't have a horse in this specific race, let's just say that if length is a problem, I suggest breaking the list into three segments, just as libraries used to do when they used card catalogs?

Otherwise? I want an American Men Novelists category, too. A short page, and links to Men and Women.

Just like the restrooms in elementary school.

NY Times, so look fast.

A funny and pointed essay about sexism in the Geek community, and how woman are simply fed up with this #$%^.

All power to my sisters and brothers in the trenches. I was and am too much of an introvert* to fight this battle on the front lines -- I looked for professions where I had more passion for the fight. (Like getting book promotion or recognition for SF novels...) Software wasn't it.

Read on!

* (yes, I know, I have a great extrovert shell that gets better yearly, but crowds exhaust me.)

I almost called this an Aspiring Writers Info, but it's for everyone who reads or posts on the Internet.

Writer Catherynne M. Valente talks about the fact that if a woman had written what Christopher Priest said about the award nominations in Britain, she'd have been eviscerated online. I do not choose that word lightly, because it's happened before, and sadly, will happen again. Perhaps it is time to drag the politics of sexism out of the closet into the light of day.

Worth reading.
